What is VJTI Matunga?

Veermata Jijabai Technological Institute is a public, co-educational, Autonomous Engineering and Technological Institute funded by the Government and is located in the Matunga, Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. It was established in the year 1887 and is one of the best Engineering and Technological Institutes of India. It was formerly known as the Victoria Jubilee Technical Institute and was given its present title on January 26, 1997. The Institute has more than ten academic departments and offers various diploma, undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral programs. The campus is spread on sixteen acres of land and the institute is a part of the University of Mumbai and all the degrees of the Institute are issued by the University of Mumbai. The Veermata Jijabai Technological Institute is accredited by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and more than three thousand students are enrolled at the institute. The admission to undergraduate courses takes place on the basis of merit scored in the Maharashtra Health Science and Technical Common Entrance Test. The institute provides large number of facilities to the students including separate hostel facilities for boys and girls, Training and Placement Office, Women’s Development Cell, fully equipped Library, canteen, Laboratories, sports and recreational facilities, Auditorium, spacious Lecture halls and Cooperative stores. Various Annual festivals are celebrated by the institution and the institute has various student societies.
