What is Mgims?
The Mahatma Gandhi institute of Medical Sciences is an educational and research institution which was founded in 1969 at Sevagram, Maharashtra. It is recognized as the first rural medical college which is administered by Kasturba Health Society. In early times, the college was associated to Nagpur University but now it is affiliated to Maharashtra University of Health Sciences located in Nasik. The college Aims at providing excellence in health care facilities to the rural societies. The university is easily accessible by roadways and rail. There are different courses provided by the institute which includes diploma degree in Medicine & Surgery, M.B.B.S and M.D/M.S. The institute is having a record of enrolling 100 students throughout the year. The institute provides special seats for the students belong to rural Regions of the country. The students for the institute are selected on the basis of a premedical test (PMT) which includes multiple questions of biology, physics, chemistry and a special theory exam on the subject Gandhian Thoughts. The institute has specialized in exploring cultural systems of Indian medicine.
