The foundation of Veolia Water is traced in 1918 from the Societe Auxiliaire des Distributions d'Eau (SADE) that engage in business of delivering drink water and water distribution networks. The construction of ultrafiltration plant was started in 1953 on the treatment facility of Veolia Water in London. With the passage of time the plant became the world’s largest ultrafiltration plant in 2001 supplying water to almost 750,000 residents across the city. In 2002, the business expanded its water supplying network covering Indianapolis of the USA, Bucharest of Romania, Berlin of Germany and Shanghai of China this changed CGE to Veolia Water.
