The first Foodland store was opened in 1985. Between 1985 and 2013, the company expanded business by opening 150 stores in four Canadian provinces. In addition to grocery items, stores also sell lawn and garden supplies. Foodland supports environmental initiates and oversees the Green Bag for Life program, which includes the sale of reusable grocery bags that are made up of recyclable materials.
