Business Expansion
After its opening in 1985, the bank purchased Third National Corporation of Nashville in 1986 whereas the company purchased Crestar Financial Corporation of Richmond, Virginia in 1998 and expanded the company business in Virginia, Maryland and Columbia.
Suntrust Bank bought institutional businesses of the Robinson-Humphrey Company, LLC and created SunTrust Robinson-Humphrey in 2001. Also in 2004, Suntrust bank buys Memphis based National Commerce Financial Corporation for $7 billion. Suntrust announced in 2014 that they would launch medical specialty group to work with independent medical practices.
Operations
