Mail products:
Letter:
Maximum weight allowed is 2kgs. Moreover, if the letter is in roll form then the diameter should be between 10cm to 80cm and length should be between 17cm to 100cm. If the letter is not in roll form then dimension should be 11.7cm and 60cm. Also, length should be 90cm.
Inland letter card:
The dimensions of the letter card with it's flaps when unfolded or folded should be minimum
28.2cm x 18.2cm and maximum 30cm x 21cm.
Parcel:
India Post renders om-time safe and secure delivery of the parcels across India of all the items expect for the ones which are prohibited. Weight of the parcels should be as:
  • An un-registered parcel should not exceed 4 kgs.
  • Registered 10 kgs if parcel is for a branch post office.
  • Registered 20 kgs for others.
  • Length should be 1 meter and girth 1.80 metres.

Insurance:
India Post also covers risks of the parcel during transmission. Below are the details:
Registered letters: Maximum up to the value of INR 600.
Registered parcels: Insured value will be within the real value of the contents of the parcel insured.
Value payable registered letters: Maximum up to the value of INR 1,00,000.
Value payable registered parcels: The parcel containing gold currency notes or coin, will be insured as per the value of the items.
