Hero MotoCorp Limited is previously known as Hero Honda is the automotive company that manufactures motorcycles and scooters. The company has its headquarters in New Delhi, India. The brand name Hero was introduced by Munjal brothers in the year 1956 that manufactures bicycles in Ludhiana, India under the name Hero Cycles Limited. The Hero Group (India) and Honda Motor Company (Japan) signed an agreement to form the Hero Honda Motors Limited in 1984 in Dharuhera, India. It established its Raman Kant Munjal Foundation (RKMF) in the year 1992 that controls the Raman Munjal Vidya Mandir and Raman Munjal Memorial Hospital.
Hero MotoCorp Limited is the two wheeler manufacturing company that operates its manufacturing plants in Gurgaon, Dharuhera and Haridwar. The company launched its different vehicles in the market under its brand name such as Karizma ZMR, Xtreme, Achiever, Glamour, Maestro, Pleasure, Super Splendor and many others. It manufactures variety of motorcycles with different engine capacities like 100 cc, 125 cc, 150 cc, 225 cc and others. It is owned by Hero Group and company also owned 49.2% shares in Erik Buell Racing company since July 2013. After entering into partnership with Erik Buell Racing, the Hero MotoCorp Limited also supports two Teams named as Hero and AMSOIL Hero at the WSBK and AMA Pro Racing Superbikes Championship.
The Hero Honda Motors Limited introduced its first motorcycle CD 100 under its brand name Hero Honda in the year 1985. The Hero MotoCorp Limited provides toll free number 1800 266 0018 to guide the customers regarding its two wheelers. It has a large network of more than 6000 authorized dealers, service centers and parts distributors to serve the customers in different countries. The company accepted the offer to combine the Hero Investment Private Limited into the Auto manufacturing company in the month of July 2012.
In 2010, the Hero Group (India) and Honda Motor Company (Japan) decided to work separately and on July 29, 2011, the company changed its name as Hero MotoCorp Limited. The British firm Wolff Olins helps to designed the new logo of the company and it launched on 9 August 2011 in London.The Hero MotoCorp Limited introduced its first Bike "Impulse" in November, 2011 which is specially meant for off-roading. The company also works with different companies like Munjal Showa, Rockman Industries, Satyam Auto Components and others that provides majority of its components. Hero MotoCorp Limited achieves top position by selling around 6.25 lakh units in October 2013.
The company also warrants its two wheelers for a period of 5 years or 70000 Km and scooters for a period of 5 years or 50000 Km whichever is earlier from the purchasing date of vehicles. The authorized service centers of the company provides all types of free and paid services for the repair and maintenance of vehicles. The customers can also replace defective parts of the vehicles from their nearest dealers or authorized service centers. The Services and maintenance schedule of the Hero two wheelers is also provided in its official which helps to increase the life of vehicles. The online way is also provided by the company to book a test ride for its vehicles before purchasing.
The Hero MotoCorp Limited manufactures around 6.8 million two wheelers in every year. According to 2013 record, the company had a revenue of Rs.241.66 billion along with net income of Rs.21.18 billion. There are many awards received by the Hero MotoCorp Limited which includes, Business Technology Innovation Awards 2012, Asia's Third Best Employer Brand Award, Business Leader in Automobiles in 2012, Green Pioneer Award in 2013 and many others. The company also sponsored many sports tournaments like Hockey, Golf and Cricket.
The company also operates its production and manufacturing facilities through Green Infrastructure to reduce the harmful substances from the environment like Asbestos, Hexavalent Chromium and Phenolic Substances. It also invests in different Cleaner Processes for the protection of environment. The Hero MotoCorp Limited has also received many certifications for its environmental programs like Environmental Management Systems as per ISO 14001, Quality Management Systems as per ISO-9001 and others.
