Daiwa Kogyo is currently known with the name of Seiko Instruments. In 1943, Daini Seikosha merged with Daiwa Kogyo and opened a manufacturing unit for Seiko watches in Suwa, Nagano. During the year 1959, Suwa Seikosha Co., Ltd, the previews name of Seiko Epson Corporation came into existence by Suwa factory. In 1961, Suwa Seikosha opened a new company as the Shinshu Seiki Company to sell precision parts for Seiko watches. The world's first Printer of Epson was introduced in September 1968 by this company. In April 1975, Epson America Inc started selling of printers for Shinshu Seiki Company.
The Epson name was first used in 1975 and in mid 1982, the name was used to change company in Epson Corporation from Shinshu Seiki Company. In 1982, Epson also introduced the world's first handheld computer, the HX-20 (HC-20) and in next year first portable color LCD TV. In November 1985, Suwa Seikosha Co., Ltd. and the Epson Corporation reintroduced company with new name as Seiko Epson Corporation.
