The University of Kentucky is a public flagship co-educational institution which provides a wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate programs regarding fine arts, pharmacy, health sciences, agriculture, business, dentistry, engineering, social work and more. All the courses are accredited by Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. It is one of the Kentucky's largest educational institutions. It has served more than 29,000 students annually. The university came into existence in the year 1865.
The University of Kentucky is affiliated to Southeastern Conference. The main campus of the university is located in Lexington. It is spread in an area of around 784 acres. The campus has facility of fifteen libraries which has a large collection of 4,023,000 volumes. William T Young Library is the prominent and largest library of this campus. In addition to libraries, it has facilities of research centers, 23 residential halls and more. The university also offers sports facilities to their students. It has 21 varsity teams which are called as "Wildcats". Its sports teams participate in several national championships including gymnastics, baseball, football, basketball, Olympics, swimming and diving.
