What is Tele Amtrak?

The National Railroad Passenger Corporation, Amtrak is an intercity passenger rail transport service operator in the United States. Its headquarters is located in Union Station, Washington, D.C., United States. Formed under the Service Act of 1970, Amtrak started its journey on May 1, 1971 through its first train named as Clocker, which served passengers from Philadelphia - New York. In 1972, it opened a new station in Cincinnati. Amtrak started a new reservation service called, "Automated Reservation and Ticketing System"(ARTS) in 1973. It began marketing under the slogan “We've Been Working on the Railroad” in 1976. It became the first non-airline service that offered tickets through the Airline Reporting Corporation. In 1994, Amtrak formed partnership with Washington State Department of Transportation and commenced services of leased Talgo trains. By launching Quiet Car service, Amtrak extended its operational services to cars. The Corporation introduced a high-speed train, operating between Boston and Washington with a speed of 150mph called Acela Express on December 11, 2000. As per reports, Amtrak served about 30.2 million passengers in 2011. Amtrak started providing the access to WI-fi services for Booking tickets to its customers in 2013.

Amtrak is a publicly traded corporation that is committed to deliver rail services such as Corridor services, Northeastern Corridor services to about millions of passengers through its 374 trains operating in about 500 destinations located in New York, Pennsylvania, Washington, Ontario, Boston. In addition to this, it also provides long distance train services, covering approximately 15 routes in about 39 states and the District of Columbia. All these services are categorized in classes such as Coach Class, Business Class etc.

Amtrak also provides transportation services through buses, taxi, cars etc. Amtrak is in partnership with companies like Allianz Global Assistance, eBags, Greyhound and American Automobile Association(AAA).

Amtrak has an employment strength of about 20,000 employees and has generated revenues of worth $2.88 billion in 2012. It also has established a customer service Committee called, Amtrak Customer Advisory Committee (ACAC) with an Aim to meet the traveling needs and requirements of its customers.
