What is SAS UK?
SAS stands for Special Air Service. SAS was founded in July in the year 1941 as a cadre. In 1950s SAS transformed in corps. The Special Air Forces all over the world have the role of counter-terrorism, human intelligence gathering, direct action and covert reconnaissance.
At the time of second World War, SAS was a group of British Army that was formed by David Stirling. SAS were operating as Commando force. The UK Government does not allow any information of SAS so easily by the reason of their work. Troops in SAS are skilled in different areas like Boat Troop-specialized in maritime skills, Air Troop-specialized in free fall parachuting, HA-LO(High Altitude-Low Opening), HA-HO (High Altitude-High Opening) techniques.
SAS Selection and Training
Her Majesty's Armed Forces every associate can be contemplated for selection of Special Forces. Every advisor is a full associate of Special Air Service. Selection for Special Air Services are held twice in a year, once in
Summer and then winter. Selection of Special Air Service takes five weeks to complete the process. Special Air Service start selection process with 200 candidates. On returning back, candidates of Special Air Service have to finish with PFT(Personal Fitness Test) and AFT(Annual Fitness Test). Then the candidates of Special Air Service are given a
Target to march Cross Country by increasing the distance every day. In the end, a candidate of Special Air Service has to run 6.4 kms in 30 minutes and also has to swim 3.2 kms in 90 minutes. From those 200 candidates of Special Air Service only few get through and are rewarded with an operational squadron.
