What is Roshan Afghanistan?
Roshan is the largest telecommunication company in Afghanistan. Roshan was started in 2003 with the help of American military activities. US military had provided GSM license to Roshan during the war as these is no telecommunication company at that time. Before its inception, national calls are costly and International call are impossible. People have to go to aboard to make an international call. Till 2013, Roshan has 6,000,000 active users across the country. Roshan is operated by the foreign parties. Roshan has operations in more than 240 cities and towns across the country and has covered 60% of population including remote rural area. It is the largest taxpayer company in Afghanistan and has paid approximately 400 million dollar to the government in form of taxes. Roshan has more than 600 million dollar telecommunication infrastructure in the country. The company has more than 1100 employees including 220 women and moreover, it offer 30,000 indirect jobs in the country. Roshan has launched 3G network in 2013 and was the third company that has obtained the 3G license in Afghanistan. Roshan offers 3G serves in Kabul, Kandahar, Herat and other major cities.
