PNC Bank, also known as PNC Financial Services, is a banking and financial service provider, based in the United States of America. It is the country's fifth largest by Size and the sixth largest by total deposits. The bank has offices in 19 states in America and operates 2,700 branches and 7,410 ATMs countrywide. Pnc Bank provides a wide range of products and services including personal banking, business banking, checking and saving accounts, credit cards and business loans, merchant services and much more.


It is a publicly traded bank which was established in the year 1852. The bank's history links with the Pittsburgh Trust and Savings Company. In the following year, its name was changed to The Pittsburgh Trust Company. The bank in 1858 established its head office on Wood Street in Pittsburgh. In the year 1863, it again renamed as the First National Bank of Pittsburgh and became the city's first bank to get national charter. After that, it adopted the name Pittsburgh National Bank. The current name PNC Financial Corporation came into existence in the year 1982, when the operations of the Provident National Corporation and Pittsburgh National Corporation were combined.

The bank in 2005 purchased the assets of Riggs Bank and after two years, it acquired the Mercantile Bankshares. In the same year, PNS decided to Buy Yardville National Bancorp and the acquisition was completed in 2008. In 2011, the bank's loan and asset management service provider Midland Loan Services were ranked as number second in the list of top largest commercial loan services companies by a U.S. National association Mortgage Bankers Association (MBA). In the same year, the bank decided to purchase Rbc Bank, which was previously owned by Royal Bank of Canada. The acquisition resulted in adding 426 branches, making a presence in Florida, Georgia, North and South Carolina, Alabama and Virginia regions in America.

In the year 2012, the bank created a new community center in Cleveland of Ohio under the name PNC Fairfax Connection. In February 2014, the bank get recognition of Yardville National Bancorp of Canada, following which it included commercial banking in its business line. The corporate headquarter of the bank is situated in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, in the United States.
