History
The construction work of the airport was started in 1925 and was known for its longest runway. In its earlier days, several airlines operated their flights from this airport such as
Boeing Air Transport and Trans World Airlines. In 1929 a pilot training school was also set up by Boieng at the airport. During the World War II, it was transformed into military base and after the war, the civil aviation activities were started again at Oakland Airport. Its first terminal was built in 1962 which housed 10000 feet runway. In 1960's the flight operations were increased at the airport.
