What is Nursing Council of Jamaica?
The Nursing Council of Jamaica was established in 1952 and it is a regulatory body which controls the training and practice of nurses, Mid wives and assistant nurses. It operates under the Nurses and Midwives Act of 1964. All education programmes which include circular and training institutions for nurses, midwives and assistant nurses are approved by it. Training and education institutes are evaluated by the Council on regular basis. The entry requirements for candidates to pursue nursing and midwifery programmes are finalized by it. Relevant studies and research is also undertaken by it.
