What is NIA?
NIA is fully known as National Investigation Agency headquartered in New Delhi, India. The National Investigation Agency was originated in the year of 2009. The agency is launched by the Federal Government of India. The main purpose of the incorporation of the agency is only to fight against terror and terrorism in the nation of India. The Investigation agency is a subsidiary of Department of Personnel and Training in India. The agency is governing by the government of India and its general nature is Federal Law Enforcement and Civilian agency of India. The agency acts as a storehouse information of all the terrorism in India. The current Director General of the National Investigation agency is the Shri Sharad Kumar, IPS The NIA has had investigated almost 93 cases, 13 cases finally decided in trial, 11cases have ended in conviction. The total conviction of the NIA is 85 percent.

The agency are required to investigate the cases
- under the Schedule of the NIA Act
- The state government requested to the central government to give the case to the NIA for investigation
- Central government can handover any scheduled offense of India to the NIA
- NIA officers who are appointed from Indian Revenue Service and Indian Police Service have the authorities in every offense same as to a charge officer
- The Central government authorizes many Special Courts for trial of the offenses of NIA police stations under the Section 11 and 22 of the NIA ACT 2008
- Judges are appointed by the Central Government with the recommendation of the Chief Justice of the High Court
- The Honorable Supreme Court of India has the authority to transfer any case in other Courts
- NIA are given the empowerment of Court Sessions under Code of Criminal Procedure of 1973
- Any Judgement or sentence can be appealed in the High Court depends on the Law and facts, circumstances of the case

NIA had arrested some major terrorists in the year of 2012 with the support of Interpol and Saudi Intelligence like Abu Jundal alias Abu Hamza, (Pakistani national), Fasih Mohammad and Yaseen Bhatkal (Indian Mujahideen citizen).
