What is NABI?

NABI or National Agri Food Biotechnology Institute is an Research and Development Institute. The Institute operates under the Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science and Technology. It is an independent institute and it carries out researches on various fields such as agriculture, food, nutrition and biotechnology. NABI works for the development of hygienic food products, crop improvement through molecular breeding etc. Along with BPU and ABP, it is a part of biotechnology hub in the area. The main objective of the institute is developing a link between crops, food and nutrition. NABI offers various facilities for the cluster partners such as Genomic, proteomic and metabolomic facilities, Green-house/Glass house facility, Facility for GM food safety and quality control, Animal house facility and many others. NABI has devised various plans and policies to provide effective research data, that aids in enhancing the production.
