What is Mnre?
MNRE (Ministry of New and Renewable Energy) is regarded as a ministry of India Government headed by Cabinet Minister, Farooq Abdullah. The ministry was formed in 1992 as the Ministry of Non-Conventional Energy Sources and renamed as the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy on October 2006. The ministry is accountable for the development and research, promotion, international cooperation, Intellectual property protection as well as coordination in renewable energy sources, which includes solar power, small hydro and wind power. The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy was established with the Aim of developing new as well as renewable energy and headquarters on Lodhi Road, New Delhi, India. The Ministry has facilitated design, research and development of energy system for the development of rural, industrial as well as urban areas through its number of functions, which includes Technology Mapping, established standards, performance parameters with international levels, determine the cost of new and renewable energy products with international levels, provide regular feedback to manufacturers, conducting Resource Survey, determine locations where energy products and services need to be deployed and other related functions.
