What is Greater Vancouver Zoo?
Greater Vancouver Zoo is a zoological garden which is located at Canada. The land where zoo is located was used for various purposes. Before the opening of zoo the area is used as a Vancouver Game Farm from 1970 to 1995 and started it from very Limited animals but later expanded the farm with more species. Then the game farm was converted into Greater Vancouver Zoological Centre which was operated from 1995 to 1999, in which the owner added some features into it such as habitats of animals, toy train rides, fun rides, picnic parks, large parking space and also includes program for education purpose. But since 1999, the park went under another renovation and came out to be Greater Vancouver Zoo which is operated since then. The zoo consists of 135 species with more than 600 animals. All kinds of herbivorous, carnivorous, omnivorous animals are present in zoo such as grizzly bear, lions, baboons, Nilgai, Kulan, Lemur, Arctic Wolf, Sika Deer, Jaguar, Hippo, Cougar, Cheetah, bald eagles, Caribbean flamingos, Crowned Crane, New Goose, Owls, Sandhill Crane, Peacock, Whooper Swan and other etc. The Zoo is a member of Canadian Association of Zoos and Aquariums which not only represents zoo, aquariums and other natural habitats of animals and birds. Vancouver Zoo also works to preserve the endangered species of animals and birds. It organizes special events in which people are encouraged to stop hunting and tries to save the rare species.
