What is Fwc?
FWC originally known as Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission is a governmental agency that is responsible for operating fishery activities and wildlife resources in the state of Florida. The commission is governed by Florida Legislature. The center of operations is located in Tallahassee, Florida, United States. The commission has around 70 branch offices and approximately 1,880 employees across the state. The agency was created on July 1, 1999 through the amalgamation of several other governmental departments namely Marine Fisheries Commission, Florida Department of Environmental Protection and Game and Fresh Water Fish Commission.
FWC Departments and Functions
Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission consists of various departments such as Human Resources, Law Enforcement, Hunting & Game Management, Legislative Affairs, Policy & Accountability, Licensing & Permitting,
Habitat & Species Conservation, Freshwater Fisheries Management, etc. The commission follows or obeys Ch.120, Florida Statutes (Constitution of the State of Florida) while framing rules & regulations of Fishing (Freshwater & Saltwater), Hunting and Boating. Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) organizes various conservation programs that include aquatic plant management, Pond management, sport fish restoration, artificial reefs, grouper catch & release, mono-filament recovery & recycling, object based vegetation management, landowner assistance and incentives programs.
FWC Meetings
The commission held meetings five times in a year at different places such as Miami, Kissimmee, Orlando, Lakeland, Tallahassee and
Weston across Florida. The meeting is based on particular agenda describing the latest issues of wildlife, environment protection, etc. and necessary steps are taken such as amendment of rules.
FWC Grants and Other Services
The commission has been funded through a no. of government-sponsored programs such as State Wildlife Grant Program, Multistates Conservation Grant Program, Clean Vessel
Act Program, Boating Access Program,
