What is Delta High School?

Delta High School is a Public High School situated in Muncie, Indiana, United States, which was established in 1967 by consolidation of three schools named Eaton, Royerton and DeSoto High Schools to form Delaware Metropolitan School District. The “D” of Delta was written as “Triangle”. The students thought that this symbol was good for the three consolidated schools and the name Delta also have the word Delaware which the students also make proud to have in the name. The main motive of the Delaware community corporation is to provide high educational opportunities and for students. The Eagle mascot was chosen for school which is a symbol of power and strength. The committee of students decides the colors, name and mascot for school. In 1968, the committee selected Mary Jolliffe Karrack to write an original school song. In 1968 Albany High School joined Delaware Metropolitan School District and then the school district's name was changed from Delaware Metropolitan School District to Delaware Community School Corporation. Christopher J. Conley is the principal of the school. In 2012, when school grades were released by Indiana Department of Education, Delta High School received “A” grade. Delta High School is a best school. The teachers of the school provide extra tutoring classes and stay there for long time. In 1968, the Eagle became official mascot for Delta because it is a Dare Bird and same as the students of Delta High School are Dare and brilliant in all areas. The letter in DARE word were taken from the first letter of consolidated four schools, ‘D’ means DeSoto, ‘A’ means Albany, ‘R’ means Royerton and last ‘E’ means Eaton. In 1974 the new Delta High School was opened with new school building. Delta high school refers as a learning community struggling for acquiring academic skills, effective Communication and knowledge of decision making.
