The company's buses run on several bus routes in the region that includes Kearny, Nutley, Belleville, Bloomfield, Montclair, the Oranges and the Caldwells etc. The company has a fleet Size of around 80 buses with a ridership of approximately 7300 people. History and Expansion
Coming to the history of Decamp Bus Lines, it has been evolved from the
Stagecoach service between Roseland and Newark started by Major Jonathan in 1870. The transportation business of Major Jonathan was soon joined by his son, Benjamin, who operated transportation services on the route destined to the
Post Office in Livingstone from General Store. Known as Cap, Benjamin added many features to the services such as double trips and modification of coaches.
America had entered into motor
Age and the horse coach were being replaced by motor bus and other vehicles. In 1905, Robert, the son of Benjamin inherited the business and introduced motor bus in the transportation system. The other notable change was brought by Robert's brother, Ralph D. DeCamp to bring the wagon of advanced technology. The company set up its first garage at South Livingston Avenue followed by other at Mount Pleasant Avenue in 1926. Later on DeCamp continued to grow under the management of DeCamp family.
