The company provides milk to approximately 1.2 million households nationwide. It was listed on the most sustainable companies by the Global 100 in 2012. Moreover, the company is also the recipient of the Jaguar Land Rover Marketplace Sustainability Leadership Award for the year 2013. The company offers milk and cream, butters and spreads, cheese and more. Dairy Crest has various brands under which it delivers its products to the customers, such as Frijj, Vitalite, Utterly Butterly, Clover and more. The Origins of the company date back to 1981, when a UK government agency Milk Marketing Board created a milk processing division Dairy Crest. After two years of inception, the company introduced the Clover. During its life, the company has undergone various acquisitions and business agreements. In 1991, the company entered into an agreement with an another dairy products company Yoplait. The Ally was named Yoplait Dairy Crest (YDC), and under this agreement, it distributes the Yoplait products across the country. In 1995, the company expanded its business by purchasing a cheese brand Cathedral City, which was previously owned by Mendip Foods Limited. Dairy Crest in August 1996 was became private and following which its shares were listed on the London Stock Exchange. The company spreads its Roots by acquiring Unigate's dairy products arm in 2000 and St Ivel in November 2002. Dairy Crest has various milk production units, which are located in Chadwell Heath, Stonehouse, Crudgington and Kirkby.
