Establishment and Journey
The Catamaran Rx came into existence in the PBM and Health informatics industries as Systems Xellence (SXC) in 1993, and after two years, it went to public and also listed on Toronto Stock Exchange (TSX). The Catamaran Rx purchases ComCoTec in 2001. After five years, the company listed on the
Nasdaq stock market. In 2006, Catamaran Rx also changed main office from Milton, Ontario to Chicago. In June 2007, Systems Xellence (SXC) became SXC Health Solutions, and it purchased National Medical Health Card Systems, Inc. (NMHC) for US$143 million in February 2008. NMHC is today named as InformedRx. During 2012, SXC Health Solutions decided to acquire Catalyst Health Solutions Inc., and shortly in the same year, SXC became Catamaran Corporation. In 2011, the Catamaran Rx had 1,433 employees.
