Dear Baz, Just watched your seminar at Adobe Max where you mentioned about Caravaggio's use of the camera obscurer. Coincidentally, I am currently doing a project for my university application about Caravaggio's influence on film. Currently the directors i have looked at are M. Scorsese and F. Coppola, though they really focus on Caravaggio's use of chiaroscuro. In order to create a different angle, i was wondering about his influence on your films, or indeed any other artists. Would really appreciate any help you can give me, as i am already being persuaded that film is not a worthy topic for art history I absolutely love your films. Great Gatsby is a masterpiece, and definitely a film for which you should have gained more acclaim.
