The Alabama Gulf Coast Zoo was established by Joey Ward in June, 1989 under the name Zooland Animal Park. The zoo serves as a home to approximately 290 animals including monkeys, lions, bears, tigers etc. The operations of the Alabama Gulf Coast Zoo are managed by the Zoo Foundation, Incorporation which is a non profit organization formed by the family member of Joey Ward in 1991. It offers a channel of learning, enjoyment and understanding by providing favorable circumstances to the people of Alabama in the United States. The Alabama Gulf Coast Zoo depends on the funds collected through admissions, memberships and contributions for its maintenance. It encourages people to conserve animals, nature and environment around them. The staff is fully trained and experienced and maintains all animal exhibits. The Zoo is surrounded in an area of seventeen acres and has an annual inflow of approximately 100,000 visitors.
