RMS Titanic. Aetna bought a Canadian company, Excelsior Life Insurance Company in 1960 whereas in 1981, they bought 40% interest in two Chilean companies. The Company has invested in many countries like England, Spain, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Indonesia & Korea.
Business Expansion
In 1998, they bought NYLCare Health Plans, which adds 2.2 million members. After a year in 1999, Aetna purchased
Prudential Healthcare for $1 billion. Aetna sold its financial services & International businesses to
Ing for $7.76 billion, which stopped their health business. In 2008, Pet health insurance was started in Alabama, Idaho, Iowa, Montana, Texas. Within some months, they had expanded this service to 50 states.
